Have you heard the buzz? Beyonce is bringing her “Renaissance” tour to Philadelphia. From ticket prices to fashion statements, we’re covering five things you need to know before you go.
Rise up Philly BeyHive, because Beyonce’s show at Lincoln Financial Field Wednesday is sure to be a smash. Beyonce always puts on a “Flawless” performance, and Philadelphia is the first US stop on her “Renaissance” tour.
The “Renaissance” tour just finished its stint in Europe, where Beyonce drew the biggest European crowds of her career. As Beyonce prepares for her shows in the US, the already successful trek could go down in history as one of the highest grossing tours ever.
With excitement rising and the date nearing, let’s take a look at five things you should know before you go.
Beyonce’s Return to Philadelphia is the First Show of the US Leg
Queen B kicked off her “Renaissance” tour in Europe earlier this year in Stockholm and finished it in Warsaw, Poland. She opened the North America leg in Toronto on Saturday, and Wednesday’s Philadelphia show kicks off the US portion of the tour.
This will be Beyonce’s first show in the City of Brotherly Love since 2018, when she performed with her husband and acclaimed rapper, Jay-Z, at the Linc.
Pittsburgh and Ticketing
Sorry Pittsburgh BeyHive, but Beyonce canceled her Aug. 3 Pittsburgh show at Acrisure Stadium last week, citing logistics and scheduling issues. Ticketholders can obtain refunds at point of purchase.
If you’re still hoping to catch a show, tickets are available for Philadelphia. And if you don’t mind driving a little further, you can also get tickets for Beyonce’s shows just outside New York, Boston, and Washington, D.C., along with a Chicago date. Tickets for Philadelphia’s show range from $250 for nosebleeds, to more than $2,000 to get the coveted “Club Renaissance” floor seats on Ticketmaster.
You’re in For a Long Night
The “Renaissance” shows have featured a setlist of more than 30 songs, making for a three-hour show. While we never know exactly what songs Beyonce will play each night, you can expect a career-spanning set. According to setlist.fm, songs like “Love on Top,” “Formation,” and “HEATED” are constants, but Beyonce likes to switch things up, so she may pull out something different for Philly.
Get Ready to “MOVE”: Backup Dancers Steal the Show
Videos of this tour have taken the internet by storm, largely thanks to Beyonce’s incredible back-up dancers. You may recognize Les Twins from her earlier tours and videos. The identical French duo are known around the world for their unique and captivating hip-hop dance style. Laurent and Larry Bourgeois’ electrifying presence on stage is sure to deliver an insane performance.
Honey Balenciaga, a member of the LGBTQ+ community, is bringing ballroom to the “Renaissance” tour, dancing and voguing throughout the show. The “Renaissance” album is sonically inspired by music from the LGBTQ+ ballroom and club scene, and bringing Honey Balenciaga on tour reflects Beyonce’s allegiance to the community.
Beyonce’s 11-year-old daughter Blue Ivy has made several appearances during “MY POWER/BLACK PARADE” at some tour stops. Her grace, poise, and killer moves have left fans in awe. Maybe Philadelphia will get lucky, as Beyonce is known to have a few tricks up her sleeves.
Fashion is at the Center
Beyonce has been donning new stunning, luxury outfits at nearly every show, dripping in Tiffany jewels, and wearing looks from Alexander McQueen, Gucci, Fendi, and many others. From custom outfits modeling a bee, to floor length gowns, to bejeweled catsuits, seeing what Beyonce may wear on stage is a highly anticipated event.
Fans are also dressing up for the show, matching their outfits to the theme of the “Renaissance” album and paying homage to some of Bey’s looks thus far. Decked out in rhinestones, cowboy hats, and spacey-silver fabric, concert-goers have helped define the “Renaissance” tour as a major fashion moment. So, don’t be afraid to dress up!
