Learn more about Pennsylvania’s 2025 Ice Cream Trail before setting out on the adventure for yourself.

Pennsylvania’s beloved Ice Cream Trail, “Scooped,” is back and bigger than ever for 2025, featuring 51 PA Preferred® creameries across the state. The trail, which combines the charm of local dairy farms with the irresistible allure of fresh-made ice cream, kicked off on May 29 at Destiny Dairy Bar in Cumberland County, where visitors can experience both a working dairy farm and premium ice cream treats.

Pennsylvania’s sweet summer tradition expands

Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding and Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Rick Siger launched this year’s ice cream adventure at Destiny Dairy Bar, highlighting the trail’s role in supporting local agriculture and tourism. “Pennsylvania ice cream is the sweetest you’ll find anywhere,” Secretary Redding remarked, emphasizing how these purchases directly support local farms and boost the state’s economy.

The 2025 trail, running from May 30 to September 7, offers more than just ice cream sampling. Participants can earn points through a digital passport system, with rewards including a commemorative metal tumbler for visiting six locations and chances to win a Lancaster County farm experience getaway for those who visit 10 or more stops.

A dairy powerhouse with family roots

Pennsylvania’s dairy industry stands as a cornerstone of the state’s agricultural heritage, featuring:

  • 4,940 dairy farms (99% family-owned)
  • 468,000 cows producing 10 billion pounds of milk annually
  • $11.8 billion annual economic impact
  • Over 47,000 jobs across the state

More than just ice cream

At Destiny Dairy Bar, owner and Stover Farms Herd Manager Amy Brickner explained the unique experience visitors can expect: “It’s about more than just great ice cream—it’s about helping families connect where their food comes from and create memories that last a lifetime.”

The trail is part of Pennsylvania’s broader “Great American Getaway” tourism initiative, which generated an economic impact of over $80 billion and supported more than 330,000 jobs in 2023. Visitors can plan their ice cream adventures and register for free at visitpa.com/scooped.

Social media enthusiasts are encouraged to share their experiences using #PAScoops across various platforms, connecting with other ice cream trail adventurers throughout the summer.
