Downtown York’s newest Beaver Street merchant is offering hand-poured candles with fun scents, diffusers, room sprays and more.
D’AlexaLee Luxury Candles at 15 South Beaver Street is owned and operated by 18-year-old Alexa Morales, who started the business at 14 while trying to raise money for her sweet 16.
Morales learned the art of candle-making from a family friend who owns his own candle business. Once she got the hang of it, she started D’AlexaLee Luxury Candles and sold her candles at a farmer’s market in Virginia where she lived at the time. In a couple years, she earned thousands of dollars in candle sales, which she used to fund her birthday party and her first car.
With most of her family living in York, and as her business started to grow, Morales decided to set up a storefront downtown, and D’AlexaLee Luxury Candles opened up in January this year.
“I’m really proud of myself, and my whole family has been supportive,” said Morales, who is currently studying business administration and hopes to open more businesses in the future.
At her store, Morales offers hand-poured soy candles with eco-conscious ingredients in over 50 scents, including Skittles, French vanilla, sweet orange & chili pepper, fresh linen and more. She also offers homemade car diffusers, carpet powders and room sprays scented with passionfruit, pineapple, cinnamon & vanilla and more.
The shop also offers candle making on Saturdays, where guests can create their own candles.
D’AlexaLee Luxury Candles is open Monday through Thursday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday 12 p.m. 5 p.m.
