In almost every corner of the commonwealth there are events that celebrate the uniqueness of Pennsylvania.

Are you looking for something fun and interesting to do this summer? Something that’s outside the norm? 

In almost every corner of the commonwealth there are events that celebrate the uniqueness of Pennsylvania. Here are seven of those events happening now through the rest of the summer.

Bucks County Beach Days: Sand Sculptures in the Village

This event showcases sand sculptures big and small that pay homage to the area’s history, landmarks, and scenery.

When: Now-Aug. 31

Where: Lahaska, Bucks County

Cost: Free

Rain Day Festival

Celebrate and watch for rain during this annual festival with umbrella decorating contests, live music, and shopping.

When: July 29

Where: Waynesburg, Greene County

Cost: Free

Rib & Wing Festival

Fill up on mouth-watering ribs and wings cooked fresh by award-winning “ribbers” from all over the country. Enjoy live music and cool off at the beer garden, or play some games in the Kid’s Zone.

When: July 29-31

Where: Champion, Westmoreland County

Cost: $10

Western PA Balloon Quest

This event features amusement park rides, live entertainment, food vendors, and, of course, hot air balloons. For one night only, watch balloons dance to music at the “Balloon Glow.”

When: Aug. 3-7

Where: New Castle, Lawrence County

Cost: Free

Great American Banana Split Festival

Discover where the first banana split was made and enjoy a plethora of food, activities, and entertainment.

When: Aug. 19-21

Where: Latrobe, Westmoreland County

Cost: Free

Elk Expo

Celebrating “everything elk,” this event features displays, presentations, contests, entertainment, wagon rides, and music.

When: Aug. 20-21

Where: Benezette, Elk County

Cost: Free

Wally Lake Fest

Celebrate Lake Wallenpaupack during this action-packed event filled with live music, farmers markets, food, drinks, and boats.
