Our newsletter readers give props to their favorite locally-owned spots in Pennsylvania for a cup of Joe.

In a recent edition of our newsletter (which you can subscribe to here), we wrote about how Pennsylvania’s coffee scene has been gaining national recognition.

Pittsburgh was recently named one of the top 10 coffee cities in America by WalletHub, coming in higher than New York, Los Angeles, and Philly. Roasters in the commonwealth’s smaller cities are also getting noticed, like Lancaster’s Passenger Coffee, which Food & Wine highlighted as best in state.

Erie is another Pennsylvania city that’s small but mighty when it comes to coffee — particularly when it comes to woman-owned shops and roasters. Our food and travel writer Kalena Thomhave highlighted eight Erie coffee shops that are owned by women.

With all this coffee talk, it seemed like the perfect time to ask our newsletter readers to shout out their favorite local coffee shops.

Here’s what your fellow Pennsylvanians had to say (some responses have been edited for length and clarity):

“One Good Woman in Camp Hill has a staggering number of selections of coffee from all over the world. And to top it off, over 60 teas to choose from. Best coffee shop around!”

-Reggie Episale, Camp Hill

“My favorite coffee shop is Deja Brew Coffee & Bakery in New Oxford.”

-Dale H. Cirillo, Red Lion

“Hill Road Coffee Roasters in Mohnton.”

-Tom Irwin, Berks County

“Cunning House Coffee Company, fabulous small batch coffees roasted in Lower Burrell!”

-Megan Cunningham, Ross Township

“Bason Coffee Roasting in Danville!”

-Verna Correll, Montoursville

“You haven’t really lived until you’ve tried Philter Coffee in Kennett Square. Dosie Dough in Lititz deserves an honorable mention. Their whoopie pie coffee will turn even the most die-hard straight black coffee drinkers into flavored fans.”

-Jenni Brand, Kennett Square

“Standing Stone Coffee Co. in Huntingdon is amazing!”

-Matt Price, Huntingdon

“Best local coffee shop (and roaster): Pour Richard’s in Devon.”

-Tom Molchan, Villanova

“The Clay Cup and the Green Bean are both woman-owned shops in Altoona. Both owners have invested heavily in our community.”

-George Sackandy, Altoona

“Favorite local coffee shop is Orbis in Mount Lebanon.”

-Robert O’Gara, Mount Lebanon

“Favorite coffee shop is Twin Valley Coffee located in West Chester, Exton, and at the Shady Maple Market.”

-Victoria Eckert, Berks County

“Dv8 Espresso Bar & Gallery in downtown Greensburg is my favorite coffee shop to visit. Zack (the owner) makes a delicious coffee or tea, whether you’re looking for cold brew, espresso, chai, etc. Dv8 is especially known for the Mexican volcano, a delicious espresso drink with a little kick to it, served best hot or cold.”

-Duke Slifko, Greensburg

“Hill Road Coffee Roasters in Reading, and the cafe in Mohnton.”

-Virginia Biniek, Wernersville

“My kitchen is my favorite coffee shop. I have a timer on my coffee maker so coffee is ready when I awake.”

-Bessie, Franklin
