Don’t know who represents you in the state House and Senate? We’re here to help you find the lawmakers who can help you with everything from cutting through bureaucratic red tape to getting a birth certificate.
In Pennsylvania, there are 203 state House seats and 50 Senate seats — and two of those lawmakers directly represent you.
Do you know who they are?
Don’t worry, many folks are hard pressed to name their representatives in the state House and state Senate, despite the fact that these elected officials arguably have the most impact on the day-to-day lives of Pennsylvanians.
Pennsylvania’s state legislators are crucial in determining what democracy will look like in the commonwealth. Issues like abortion, education, LGBTQ+ rights, racial equality, workers’ rights, elections, healthcare, voting rights, housing, gun control, marijuana legalization, criminal justice reform, and more are in their hands.
A big part of their job also involves serving constituents directly. So, if you find yourself wrapped up in bureaucratic red tape or frustrated with the lack of attention to an issue, give them a call or send them an email.
With all 203 state House seats and 25 of 50 Senate seats up for election in Pennsylvania this November, now is a good time to learn the names of the people who answer directly to you, and how they can help you.
Who is my state representative or state senator?
There is an easy way to find out. Simply go online to the Pennsylvania General Assembly locator tool. You can search using your home address, or by county.
How do I contact my state representative and senator?
When you search the state general assembly locator tool using your address, you’ll get a list of the representative and senator who represent your district on the state and federal level. For the state lawmakers, there will be a link to their bio, which includes all their contact information. A simple Google search should also turn up their official state website, which will have their contact info.
What can these lawmakers help me with?
Representatives and senators are available to help their constituents with any state-related issue, including (but certainly not limited to):
