Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said U.S. Rep. Scott Perry is ‘full of s**t’

Speaking at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Gov. Josh Shapiro said he was offended by Scott Perry’s attempts to help Donald Trump overturn the 2020 election, and thinks the incumbent Dauphin County congressman can be defeated in November.

Gov. Josh Shapiro wasn’t pulling any punches when he talked about Republican U.S. Rep. Scott Perry (Dauphin) at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday.

While speaking about his party’s prospects in Pennsylvania in November, Shapiro told reporters at the Chicago event that he thinks incumbents like Democratic U.S. Reps. Susan Wild (Lehigh), Matt Cartwright (Luzerne), and Chris Deluzio (Allegheny) will retain their seats, according to Politics PA. But he feels there is a good chance Perry will be defeated.

“This is a guy who literally went to the floor of the United States House of Representatives on January 6 after the mob that he encouraged left the floor, and he rose to his feet and lied about Pennsylvania,” Shapiro said. “And said that the ballot that returned him to Congress was lawful, but the ballot that sent Joe Biden to the White House was not.

“He is absolutely, fundamentally full of s**t. The people of Pennsylvania know that, and I’m going to do everything in my power to defeat that guy. He is not a real patriot, and he is not someone who deserves a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives. He’s offended the good people of Pennsylvania, and he’s offended me.”

Over the past year, Perry has faced increased scrutiny for his involvement in trying to overturn the 2020 election. Last November, a federal court briefly unsealed a court filing showing some of Perry’s communications between former President Donald Trump’s Chief of Staff Mark Meadows and Pennsylvania Republican legislators. He was then ordered to turn over 1,600 emails and text messages to federal prosecutors a short time later

A timeline of Perry’s released communications shows how he worked with Trump’s inner circle and Pennsylvania legislators to cast doubt on the commonwealth’s election results to  try to overturn the results.

Perry is running against former broadcast journalist Janelle Stelson to retain his seat in central PA’s 10th Congressional District. A poll released by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee recently had Stelson leading Perry 48% to 47%.
