Need a good hike with some breathtaking views? Then Pennsylvania is the place to be! Try these eight hikes that highlight the stunning beauty of the state’s natural elements.

Presque Isle State Park

Presque Isle State Park features 11 trails that offer beautiful views of Lake Erie. While you’re there, make sure to check out the Presque Isle Lighthouse.

Allegheny National Forest

Pennsylvania’s only national forest, Allegheny National Forest offers scenic views of streams, rustic bridges, and the Allegheny Reservoir along its 200+ miles of trails.

Schuylkill River Trail

The Schuylkill River Trail is a 120-mile trail built mostly along abandoned railroad lines in southeastern Pennsylvania. It offers views of a variety of different landscapes — from the city of Philadelphia to the farm country of Berks County.

Quehanna Trail

Quehanna Trail winds through the Moshannon and Elk state forests and features some of the most wild parts of Pennsylvania. Hikers have reported seeing snakes, coyotes, deer, and other animals along the path.

Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail

The 70-mile Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail in southwestern Pennsylvania offers incredible views of the Youghiogheny River and Laurel Mountain, and takes you to Ohiopyle State Park where you can explore even more hiking trails.

Pine Grove Furnace State Park

Pine Grove Furnace State Park in south-central Pennsylvania has seven trails, and marks the midpoint of the Appalachian Trail. Ask about the half-gallon challenge at Pine Grove General Store.

Appalachian Trail

Hikes at various points along the Appalachian Trail offer incredible views of the Pennsylvania countryside.

Ricketts Glen State Park

Ricketts Glen State Park in northeastern Pennsylvania is best known for its beautiful waterfalls. It has 20 hiking trails for families and avid hikers alike.
