Gov. Josh Shapiro wants Pennsylvanians and the rest of the country to know he’s tired of Donald Trump “shit-talking America.” Shapiro delivered the remarks prior to Thursday’s debate.
Gov. Josh Shapiro, along with Lt. Gov. Austin Davis, spoke in front of a crowd of close to 100 President Joe Biden supporters at the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center prior to Thursday’s debate between Biden and former president Donald Trump.
Shapiro gained national attention in recent weeks for telling Trump to stop “shit-talking America” live on MSNBC and he echoed those same feelings prior to Thursday’s debate.
“This is a choice between moving forward under Joe Biden’s leadership or moving backward to a darker time with less freedom in our nation under Donald Trump,” Shapiro told the crowd.
“This is a great nation and I don’t know about you, but I’m sick and tired of Donald Trump whining about us. I’m sick and tired of Donald Trump only pushing forth dark views instead of appreciating the light in all of us. And I’m sick and tired of Donald Trump shit-talking America.”

Trump didn’t heed Shapiro’s advice and spent the evening lying his way through the debate. According to the Biden campaign, they counted over 50 lies Trump said throughout the debate.
During one rant, Trump dodged questions about his involvement on Jan. 6, 2021 and trying to overturn the 2020 election. Instead he pivoted to insulting the country.
“On Jan 6th, we were respected all over the world,” Trump claimed. “All over the world we were respected, and then he comes in, we’re now laughed at. We’re like a bunch of stupid people. What happened to the US’ reputation under this man’s leadership is horrible.”
Following the debate, Mitch Kates, executive director for the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, released a statement telling voters what’s at stake going forward.
“Tonight, Pennsylvanians saw on the debate stage what we already knew: Donald Trump only cares about revenge and retribution and will sell us out to advance his extreme agenda,” Kates said.
“If Trump returns to the White House, he will rip away our reproductive freedoms and make working families pay for handouts to his billionaire buddies, just like he did last time.”
