Shady Maple Smorgasbord topped USA Today’s list of Best Buffets in the nation. Another Pennsylvania buffet, Miller’s Smorgasbord, came in third.
Pennsylvania can take credit for a lot of great things, and now we can add buffets to the list.
Two of the top 10 buffets in the nation are in Lancaster County, according to USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice 2024.
Shady Maple Smorgasbord, which claims to be “the largest buffet in America,” took the top spot on the list. The restaurant in East Earl serves up Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine on a 200-foot-long smorgasbord. If it’s your birthday, you eat for free! In addition to its buffet, Shady Maple has a farmer’s market where you can shop for anything from clothing to furniture, and a gift shop.
Miller’s Smorgasbord, only a short drive away in Ronks, ranked third on the USA Today list. The family-owned restaurant has been in business for 95 years and also offers authentic Pennsylvania Dutch cuisine on its buffet.
This is the second year both smorgasbords have made the list. Last year, Shady Maple ranked fourth and Miller’s was third.
To compile the list, a group of 20 nominees are selected for the USA Today 10Best Reader’s Choice list by a panel of experts. Readers then vote for the top-10 winners.
