It is unclear how many staff members were infected or whether they had traveled with the president to the City of Brotherly Love.
Several White House staff members tested positive for the novel coronavirus less than 24 hours after President Donald Trump visited Philadelphia, members of the White House press pool reported Wednesday.
It is currently unknown exactly how many staff members were infected, how closely they work with Trump and other top members of the administration, and whether any of them were on the trip to Philadelphia. White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows declined to release further information.
“I don’t comment on any health-related issues as it relates to the White House ever,” Meadows told press pool reporters.
Trump was in Philadelphia on Tuesday for a town hall at the National Constitution Center with undecided voters 49 days before the general election. At the event, Trump tried to rewrite the history of his response to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
After the visit, Trump Tweeted a photo of himself on what appears to be Air Force One with a cheesesteak.
