Need something to do this summer? Do you love the outdoors? Pennsylvania is home to some amazing natural areas that are definitely a must see.

Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve

If you want to see what the Pennsylvania woods might have looked like before Europeans arrived here, visit Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve in Bucks County. The 134-acre preserve has more than 700 of the state’s 2,000 native plant species growing where — and how — they would naturally grow.

Cherry Springs State Park

On a clear night, you can see the Milky Way galaxy from Cherry Springs State Park in Potter County. The 82-acre park is surrounded by a 262,000-acre state forest, so there is no light pollution to ruin your view.

Hawk Mountain

Hawks and other birds of prey spread their wings and soar on the strong winds that blow past the Appalachian Mountains. Hawk Mountain sanctuary in Berks County offers a great vantage point to see them.

Laurel Caverns

Running about 16,000 feet long and 46 stories deep below a mountain top, Laurel Caverns in Fayette County is the largest cave in Pennsylvania.

Delaware Water Gap

Trails in this park that runs along both sides of the Delaware River in eastern Pennsylvania offer incredible views of the river and feature the state’s tallest waterfalls.

Ringing Rocks

Take a hammer along when you visit tRinging Rocks in Bucks County. Follow a short trail past a waterfall to the rock field, where you can tap the rocks and listen as they make music.

Pine Creek Gorge

You might have heard of this place by another name — the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. The gorge spans 47 miles in three counties in northwestern Pennsylvania. Colton Point State Park and Leonard Harrison State Park offer stunning views, or you can hike down to the creek and wade in the water.
