Escape the heat: Dive into adventure at Pennsylvania’s best tubing spots

Throughout the state, there are plenty of places to enjoy a relaxing float down the water with your friends in an inner tube.

Every summer, Pennsylvanians all across the state head for the water to find a respite from the humidity. With 86,000 miles of rivers and streams, what better way to enjoy the warm weather while staying cool than plopping your backside into an inner tube and leisurely floating down the waterway.

Tubing can be a great outdoor activity for just about anyone. If age, injuries, chronic pain, or other disabilities make biking or hiking tough for you, a trip on the river can be a great way to enjoy nature without stressing your body. In fact, it would be difficult to find a more relaxing way to spend a few hours than floating down the water with your family or friends.

So, kick back, dip your toes in the water, and bask in the warmth of the sun at any of these great tubing spots across the state.

The River’s Edge Kayak & Canoe, Leechburg

Head on over to The River’s Edge Kayak & Canoe for a tubing trip down the Kiski River. They offer two-hour short trips, as well as four-, six-, and eight-hour adventures. (Imagine spending eight hours doing nothing but floating in nature—talk about self-care.) Bonus: Thursdays are Ladies Day.

Coal Tubin’, Johnstown

Bucks County River Country, Point Pleasant

Whether you opt for the 2.5-mile, three-hour short trip, or four-mile, five-hour trip, you’re sure to have a relaxing experience on this lazy river in Cook County.

Buttonwood Campground, Mifflintown

Enjoy a slow moving, peaceful float down the Juniata River with Buttonwood Campground. You’ll pass beautiful farmlands, dense woods, and rolling ridges on any of the numerous trip options Buttonwood offers. Trip lengths range from three to 15 miles. 

Port Providence Paddle, Port Providence

Spend a day on the Schuylkill River with a leisurely 2.5-mile tubing trip with Port Providence Paddle. Most trips are approximately two hours long and include everything you need for a fun time on the water. According to the website, eagles have been seen where the Perkiomen flows into the Schuylkill.
