With National Coffee Day coming up on Tuesday, Sept. 29, it’s a good time to talk about Pennsylvania’s fantastic coffee scene, which features local roasters throughout the state keeping community members caffeinated.
In the commonwealth’s small towns and bigger cities, there are dozens of local roasteries crafting quality coffee with responsibly sourced and on-site roasted coffee beans. Our food and travel writer Kalena Thomhave highlights some of her favorite Pa.-based roasters in this story.
People outside the state are also taking note of Pennsylvania’s coffee scene. In WalletHub’s recent ranking of the 100 best coffee cities in America, Pittsburgh came in at 9th, while Philadelphia placed 27th. And Philly’s Thank You Thank You made Infatuation’s list of America’s “it” coffee shops.
But back to National Coffee Day, and the burning question: Who’s giving out free and/or discounted coffee?
Here’s where you’ll find deals in Pennsylvania on National Coffee Day:
7-Eleven: The convenience store chain is offering a $1.49 large coffee for 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards loyalty members.
Burger King: Royal Perks members get a $1 coffee of any size.
Circle K: At participating locations, customers can receive one free medium hot or iced coffee via the Circle K app.
DoorDash: Customers can get a free medium hot or iced coffee with a $15+ Dunkin’ order through the delivery app.
Duck Donuts: The Mechanicsburg-based chain is offering a free espresso donut with any purchase (one per customer), and $2 off bags of coffee.
Dunkin’: Dunkin’ Rewards members can get a free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase through the Dunkin’ app.
Einstein Bros Bagels: Customers can get a free iced coffee (any size and flavor) with any purchase when they mention the offer while ordering.
GoPuff: The delivery app is offering 2 for $6 La Colombe Canned Lattes; 15% off La Colombe four-packs; 20% off Death Wish Coffee; and 25% off Groundwork Coffee through Oct. 4.
Krispy Kreme: Customers can get a free small or medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase, and customers can get a dozen Original Glazed Coffee Flavored doughnuts for just $5 with the purchase of any dozen at regular price.
La Colombe: Customers can save 50% off all sizes of cold brew and draft lattes, and 25% off online purchases of whole bean coffee.
Paris Baguette: PB Rewards members can get a free medium hot or iced coffee with any purchase.
Perkins Restaurant & Bakery: Customers can get a free coffee with any purchase at participating locations.
Playa Bowls: Rewards members can get a BOGO deal on 20-ounce Playola Cold Brew.
Pilot/Flying J: Customers can get a free hot coffee in any size through the Pilot app.
Sheetz: Altoona-based Sheetz is offering My Sheetz Rewardz members a free hot or iced self-serve coffee with any food or beverage purchase through Oct. 1.
Starbucks: No freebies or discounts, but Starbucks is rolling out a new twist on the iced Americano called the Aerocano, along with three new pies.
Tim Hortons: Customers can get a free coffee, any size, through the Tim Hortons app.
Wawa: The Delco-based chain is offering Wawa Rewards Card members triple points when they purchase any size hot coffee.
