There’s no shortage of ways to celebrate America’s 250th birthday in Pennsylvania around the Fourth of July. But there’s also plenty of other stuff to do once the smoke from the fireworks has cleared.

Here’s a rundown of 10 July events in Pennsylvania you should know about.

Wawa Welcome America/Independence Week at the National Constitution Center – Philadelphia, now through July 4

Philadelphia’s annual Wawa Welcome America celebration represents one of the largest free Fourth of July celebrations in the United States, with a parade, block parties, free museums, free hoagies, and live music in the days leading up to the Fourth of July. This year, the celebration for the country’s 250th birthday culminates in a free concert featuring Christina Aguilera, Jill Scott, and The Roots. A dazzling fireworks display will serve as the grand finale.

The National Constitution Center is also celebrating the semiquincentennial with Independence Week. Events include a chance to battle Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Jon Meacham in a US history-themed game of Trivial Pursuit, a town hall-style discussion on the shared principles at the heart of the American idea, an event honoring Pope Leo XIV, and even more free hoagies.

The return of the US Brig Niagara – Erie, July 2

This Brig is back! On July 2, the tall ship U.S. Brig Niagara makes its return to the Erie Maritime Museum after more than a year away for repairs in Maine, just in time for the Fourth of July. The ship’s Parade of Sail will allow the public to welcome the Niagara back to Erie—the vessel will also be joined by as many as 40 other boats participating in the fanfare. The Niagara will then be open for guided deck tours all weekend.

50/250 Celebration: Retreat to Valley Forge – King of Prussia, July 3-5

On July 4, Valley Forge National Historical Park will celebrate not only the 250th anniversary of the United States, but also the 50th anniversary of the national historical park. That’s right—the country and the park share a birthday. The free 50/250 Celebration: Retreat to Valley Forge event will feature Revolutionary War exhibits, kids’ activities, musket and artillery firing demonstrations, living history reenactors, historical lectures, live music, food, and more.

A Gettysburg Fourth – Gettysburg, July 4

Gettysburg played an outsized role in American history. So it makes sense that this July 4, Gettysburg is planning a large celebration in honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, with a focus on Gettysburg history and the Civil War. A Gettysburg Fourth is an all-day festival at Gettysburg Rec Park with live music, food and drink, and family-friendly activities. The evening features a performance by the US Army Field Band followed by a fireworks display.

Independence Day Celebration – Pittsburgh, July 4

In May, USA Today named Pittsburgh’s Independence Day Celebration as the best in the country, and the city is defending its title with a giant celebration to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary. The event will take over downtown Pittsburgh on July 4, with a festival featuring family-friendly activities, a vendor market, local food, entertainment, a hot air balloon, and even a Ferris wheel on the city’s North Shore. The city’s skyscrapers will be lit red, white, and blue in the evening, with a massive fireworks display to follow.

MLB All-Star Week – Philadelphia, July 10-14

The Midsummer Classic returns to Philly for the first time in 30 years, bringing with it a whole host of events leading up to the All-Star Game on July 14 (which should feature a handful of Phillies suiting up for the National League). The Capital One All-Star Village runs from July 11 to July 14 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center with interactive contests, video games, prizes, and more. Other highlights include the 2026 MLB Draft (July 11 at the Convention Center), the MLB Futures Game (July 12 at Citizens Bank Park), and the T-Mobile Home Run Derby (July 13, CBP).

Easton Heritage Day – Downtown Easton, July 11

Before it became an important canal town in the 19th century, Easton was the site of one of three public readings of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, an event the town celebrates each year during July’s Easton Heritage Day. This year’s free, all-day festival features colonial reenactors, live music, local food vendors, and, of course, a live reading of the Declaration of Independence.

Picklesburgh – Pittsburgh, July 16-19

Picklesburgh burst onto the Pittsburgh festival scene in 2015 and quickly became known to pickle fans nationwide, with the downtown festival attracting as many as 250,000 visitors in 2024. Picklesburgh organizers have been hard at work to make the event—with its pickle juice drinking contests, Dill-cathalon, pickle-flavored beer and pierogi, and live entertainment—a can’t-miss festival. Last year, the festival expanded its footprint, operating on the Roberto Clemente Bridge, the Andy Warhol Bridge, and throughout several other downtown locations. This year features some new wrinkles like Pickleball at Arts Landing.

Endless Mountain Music Festival – Wellsboro, July 17-Aug. 2

Each summer, the Endless Mountain Music Festival brings celebrated classical musicians to the rural mountains of Central Pennsylvania, hosting 17 shows over 17 days. The performances run from orchestral music to percussion, big band, and string quartets and are hosted alongside the beauty of the region in Wellsboro, Knoxville, Mansfield, and Coudersport, as well as in parts of nearby southern New York. This year’s theme is “America the Beautiful,” with several orchestral performances focusing on classics from American composers.

Musikfest – Bethlehem, July 30-Aug. 9

As they do each summer, thousands will trek to Bethlehem for the country’s largest free music festival, Musikfest. This year’s schedule is filled with over 400 musicians and performing artists. The 2026 headliners of the festival’s main stage (the only stage to charge admission) include Yellowcard, Taking Back Sunday, “Weird Al” Yankovic, AJR, Train, John Mulaney, Grupo Niche, Third Eye Blind, Russell Dickerson, and more. In addition to the main stage, 15 other stages will feature (free!) live music and performances.
