With the ongoing energy crisis, union leaders and environmental groups gathered with members of the Pennsylvania House’s Blue-Green caucus to promote a 10-bill packet that focuses on expanding green energy opportunities throughout Pennsylvania.
Climate Power cites that Pennsylvania has lost more than 1,000 clean energy jobs since President Donald Trump took office last year.
These bills look to expand solar infrastructure and storage capacity, require new warehouses to be solar-ready and provide tax credits to retrofit older warehouses, and expand geothermal.
“ The building trades have been a part of all these bills,” Rob Bair, President of the Pennsylvania State Building and Construction Trades, said.
“ We want to help fix the problem. We want to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. We want lower energy costs. When we can come together as a group, a diverse group like this and say we’re willing to sit at a table together and talk, we may not always agree.”
