Let’s open today’s Feelgood Friday edition of the Keystone newsletter with something we can all use right now: feelgood animal content.
🐶 A lost dog who was stolen from a Philadelphia family more than a decade ago was reunited with its owners thanks to a microchip miracle. 6ABC has the story of Forty-Cal, who’s going to live out his golden years in Luzerne County, where his humans are now living. We’re not crying, you’re crying.
🚔 The York County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit is growing with the addition of K-9 Sgt. Mason, a 12-week-old bloodhound. He’s all ears, as you’ll see in this story.
🦅 If you need a moment of calm during the day, I suggest checking out this feed of an Eagle’s nest in Hanover (sound on). Three eggs laid recently are expected to hatch in early to mid-April.

If the above stories brought a smile to your face or a tear to your eye, then you’ve likely got a passion for animals.
Volunteering at an animal shelter is one way you can put that passion to good use.
Patti Eichen, a retired social worker from Erie County, decided to take her passion for helping and use it for aiding animals at the Association for Needy and Neglected Animals (A.N.N.A.) Shelter in Erie, where she’s served as volunteer for over 10 years.
“It’s a feel-good experience,” Eichen told the Erie Times-News. “It warms my heart and feeds my soul and I know I’m helping those animals. A lot of times people will ask me how I can do this or how don’t I take all of the animals home? People visit the shelter and say they can never work here or volunteer here for that reason. I say, think of these animals and where they came from and they are in a better place here.”

The Lawrence Park Dinor is listed for sale at $285,000. (USA Today Network via Reuters Connect)

In the market to buy a Pa. dining landmark? The historic Lawrence Park Dinor is up for sale.
The 78-year-old Erie eatery is listed for $285,000.
Owner Dawn Van Scoter, who purchased the business in 2022, says that you can’t put a price tag on the memories and adventures this business has given her.
“This place just isn’t a restaurant, it’s a home, it’s a family,” Van Scoter said. “We have regulars that walk through the door and everyone says hi to you like on ‘Cheers.’ It’s a place where everyone can come, enjoy a meal and conversation.”
As for why it’s spelled dinor, not diner, no one’s really sure.
