Josh Shapiro’s new budget, which proposes a $1.1 billion increase to public education.
Deborah Gordon Klehr, the Executive Director of the Education Law Center, told school funding advocates at a press conference in Harrisburg on Wednesday that the ruling declared public education a fundamental right. Shapiro’s proposed education funding increase follows the recommendations made by the Basic Education Funding Commission, a bipartisan panel that convened following the court’s decision.
