Congressman Scott Perry grabbed a reporter on the third anniversary of Jan. 6th when he was asked about his involvement in trying to overturn the 2020 election.
Congressman Scott Perry (R-York) grabbed at The Keystone’s Sean Kitchen’s arm on Saturday, Jan. 6, at the Pennsylvania Farm Show when Kitchen asked Perry about his involvement in trying to overturn the 2020 election.
Saturday marked three years since rioters attacked the US Capitol in an attempt to overturn the 2020 election. Rioters stormed the capitol after former President Donald Trump and his allies spent months spreading misinformation about the 2020 election.
Perry was asked, “With today being the third anniversary of January 6th, would you mind trying to talk about your involvement in overturning the 2020 election results?”
“So let me first reject the premise of your question,” Perry said as he approached The Keystone’s reporter and grabbed his arm, just underneath the hand that was holding his phone.
The short altercation was broken by one of Perry’s congressional staffers.

Perry had his cell phone seized by federal authorities in Aug. 2022 and was ordered last month to turn over 1,600 text messages and emails between Perry, Pennsylvania Republican legislators and members of Trump’s inner circle.
The communications show how Perry acted as a point person between state legislators and Trump officials when it came to spreading misinformation about the 2020 election results. In one instance Perry was sharing misinformation between “cyber security” experts associated with Sydney Powell and Republican legislators to present at a hearing on Dominion’s voting machines and their election software.
Heading into the 2024 election, Perry has spent at least $75,000 in campaign funds to prevent federal authorities from releasing those communications, while the Cook Political Report and Roll Call have both downgraded Perry’s reelection chances from a “Likely Republican” to “Lean Republican.”
