State Rep. Arvind Venkat (D-Allegheny) warned of dire consequences if Republicans in Congress pass President Donald Trump’s budget bill, which includes a $700 billion cut to Medicaid.

Venkat is the only emergency room physician to serve in the Pennsylvania General Assembly, and he shared a heartbreaking story about a patient foregoing cancer treatment because she didn’t want to go into medical debt.

Medicaid covers over 3 million Pennsylvanians and helps fund 34% of all births throughout the state. According to the Center for American Progress, over 340,000 Pennsylvanians could lose their health care coverage as a result of Trump’s budget.

Is it ‘pro life’ to strip millions of their health care? This Pa. lawmaker says no

State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta (D-Philadelphia) called out supposed pro-life lawmakers for supporting Medicaid cuts that could potentially kill people.

Kenyatta spoke at a press conference outside of the Pennsylvania State Capitol in Harrisburg on Monday, responding to remarks made by US Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), who doubled down on a town hall statement that death is inevitable and to embrace Christianity.

Ernst told constituents,“Well, we are all going to die” after being confronted about her support for President Donald Trump’s budget bill, which includes a $700 billion cut to Medicaid.

Medicaid supports over 3 million Pennsylvanians and funds 34% of all births throughout the state. Over 340,000 residents could lose health care coverage as a result of these cuts.

Dog rescued from Central Pa. storm drain after 6-hour ordeal

A dog in Boalsburg, Centre County was rescued from a storm drain on Wednesday after being trapped for more than six hours.

According to the Boalsburg Fire Company, the pup entered the storm drain via an outlet pipe near his back yard.

Firefighters tried in vain to get the dog out, and after almost six hours, they decided to cut the road to gain access to the pipe. After some coaxing from the fire chief, the dog walked out under his own power and was greeted by a group of very concerned people, including his owner.

“We are happy to report the dog was uninjured and seemed in good spirits as he ate a hot dog and some other snacks,” the Boalsburg Fire Company said in a Facebook post.

Constituents react to Scott Perry’s lies about Medicaid

US Rep. Scott Perry’s (R-York) constituents reacted to a statement he made claiming no one will lose Medicaid coverage if they legitimately need it.

However, millions of Americans will lose their health care coverage if the US Senate approves an $800 billion Medicaid policy that lays out new work requirements.

Those covered by the bill would have to work a minimum of 80 hours a month and prove that they are working every six months.

According to the Center for American Progress, close to 340,000 Pennsylvanians may lose their coverage, including over 20,000 residents living in Perry’s district.

Chris Deluzio Warns How GOP Medicaid Cuts Will Harm Rural PA

Congressman Chris Deluzio (D-Allegheny) warns that the Republican Party’s Medicaid cuts will harm rural Pennsylvania and force hospitals, nursing homes, and senior centers to close in order to pay for President Donald Trump’s tax cuts.

US House Republicans passed a budget bill on Thursday that cuts Medicaid by $698 billion, with all of Pennsylvania’s nine congressional republicans voting in favor of the bill.

Medicaid provides 2 million Pennsylvania adults and 1.4 million children with health insurance, and it covers 34% of all births in the state. It also helps 400,000 seniors cover nursing home or home care costs.
