If confirmed, Romero would be the first woman of color to lead the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
President Joe Biden nominated Jacqueline Romero to serve as US attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
If confirmed, Romero would be the first woman of color US Attorney to lead the eastern district.
Both US Senators from Pennsylvania Bob Casey (D) and Pat Toomey (R) recommended Romero for the position.
“US Attorneys serve a vital role in keeping our communities safe, upholding the rule of law and protecting the independence and integrity of the Department of Justice,” Casey said in a statement. “For over two decades, Ms. Romero has dedicated her career to public service, including the past 16 years as an Assistant United States Attorney in Philadelphia. She brings a breadth of experience and an historic perspective to this role as the first woman nominated to lead that office.”
Romero has served as an assistant US attorney in the eastern district since 2006. Prior to that she was Senior Counsel to the US Mint and also served as a trial attorney in the commercial litigation branch of the Justice Department.
Romero formerly served as president of the Hispanic Bar Association of Pennsylvania. She received her J.D. from Rutgers Law School in 1996.
