Giant Eagle plans to lower prices on 300+ products through the end of 2025. Here’s why.

Giant Eagle Inc. is lowering prices through the end of 2025 on more than 300 grocery products that its customers buy the most, according to a Sept. 30 announcement from the Pittsburgh-based food and pharmacy retailer.

The “On Sale This Season” pricing initiative began Oct. 2, and shoppers can expect to see lower prices on Giant Eagle brand and other brands of products they buy regularly, including proteins like a dozen large white eggs, 80/20 ground beef, pork shoulder roast, frankfurters and bacon; produce items like iceberg lettuce, stem tomatoes, apples, potatoes and onions; dairy products like butter and cheese; some breads, cereal and pantry staples like pasta, brown sugar, canned beans, canned soup and frozen vegetables.

Giant Eagle created the “On Sale This Season” pricing program “to deliver real, meaningful value to customers” as grocery shoppers nationwide have dealt with price fluctuations in the past year due to factors such as tariffs, transportation costs and product availability challenges, the company said.

“By lowering the prices of key items that our customers frequently purchase, we intend to deliver reliable everyday value and savings opportunities for Giant Eagle customers as they shop for their families throughout the season,” said Justin Weinstein, executive vice president and chief merchandising and marketing officer for Giant Eagle.

The seasonal pricing promotion is part of the company’s new “Because It Matters” strategic plan that was announced on Sept. 25, in which Giant Eagle intends to invest $100 million through 2026, prioritizing the customers’ shopping experience by: Offering new savings opportunities on a variety of grocery items; ensuring product quality and availability on fresh produce, meats, seafood, bakery and prepared meals; remodeling 12 supermarkets in Pennsylvania and Ohio; adding its grocery delivery option to 33 more supermarkets; expanding more than 60 of its in-store pharmacies and growing its standalone pharmacy locations.
