A 147-acre Upper Makefield estate that is older than the United States is yours for the taking — and $18.8 million.
The Jericho Farm estate at 465 Pineville Road, just above Wrightstown, dates back to 1765. It underwent major renovations by Du Pont de Nemours executive chairman Edward Breen and his wife, Lynn, who purchased the property in 2012.
With 11 buildings, the sprawling pre-Revolutionary War compound boasts three living quarters, horses stables, an in-ground pool and a greenhouse, according to the listing by Jack Lacey and Perry Epstein of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach.
Breen purchased the property from the Bristol family who founded the Princeton-based pharmaceutical giant Bristol Myers Squibb.
The couple then embarked on a four-year-long rebuild of every structure on the property with architect Paul Kiss of OSK Designs and master builder Tim Sager of Ferman Lex Custom Homes.
Renovations tripled the size of the main house, which was built in 1760, to now include four bedrooms, four bathrooms and two half bathrooms. Spanning 7,800 square feet, the main house has cathedral ceilings, a gourmet kitchen, a glass conservatory with components imported from England and a westward-facing balcony for sunset views.
The second dwelling, named the Cottage, features three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a two-car garage, front porch and back patio. The guest house features one bathroom and a full kitchen.
Additional structures on the property include a pool house with outdoor covered patio and fireplace, a two level office with a gym and a game room above horse stables.
Property grounds contain lush, manicured landscaping, multiple patios, gardens and a long, tree-lined driveway. About 70% of the estate is covered in woodlands that have walking trails leading to the top of Jericho Mountain.
