It appears that not even Freedom Fuel, the gas station chain that recently opened dozens of locations across Pennsylvania and New Jersey in support of President Donald Trump, is immune to the effects of Trump’s war in Iran.
Freedom Fuel gas stations began springing up across the Philadelphia region earlier this month, with gas prices set at $3.47 per gallon of regular unleaded in support of the 47th president.
However, those prices are quickly approaching $4 per gallon as Trump’s war in the Middle East reignites after the two sides broke a ceasefire agreement.
“Instead of Pennsylvania leading America toward energy independence, Trump and his allies in Pennsylvania have made us even more reliant on the global oil and gas market, which we’re all paying for,” Abbey Cox, the Pennsylvania state director for Climate Power, said in a statement earlier this month.
A recent report from Climate Power and the Center for American Progress found that the Trump’s administration’s energy policies and war in Iran have cost American families at least $2,000 over the past year.
The average price of gasoline in Pennsylvania was $3.11 at the start of the war, and it currently sits at $4.19, according to the American Automobile Association.
She added, ”One year ago, Trump signed into law the Republican tax bill, one of his most disastrous policies ever. Since then, Pennsylvanians have been paying the price, literally. Our state has lost clean energy jobs and investments, which means even higher utility bills on top of higher costs on everything from gas to groceries to health care.”
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, multiple Freedom Fuel locations across the Philadelphia area have raised their price for a gallon of regular gasoline to $3.92 per gallon, and The Keystone verified that the Camp Hill location outside of Harrisburg is also selling gas at $3.92.
The Newsground reported that the Freedom Fuel Network was incorporated in Delaware by Randy Brown, a special teams coach for the Baltimore Ravens, and Yoni Gontowink, a former commodities trader at Mercuria.
Despite the high gas prices, the gas chain is looking to expand to an area near you.
“We have received an overwhelming wave of media interest in Freedom Fuel Network following President Trump’s strong endorsement of the Freedom Fuel gas stations,” its website read.
“As a result of lowering prices, 25 gas stations have experienced explosive growth—an average volume increase of more than 50 percent, with several locations surging over 100 percent.”
