US House Rep. Rob Bresnahan’s (R-Luzerne) congressional stock record is a never-ending  story. 

Politico reported on Tuesday that Bresnahan admitted to consulting with financial advisers in an unearthed radio interview with Lackawanna County Commissioner Bob Cordaro last April.

Bresnahan’s interview with Cordaro happened months before the New York Times reported about his Medicaid related stock trades, and at the time of publishing, an aide told the outlet that the congressman’s stock trades are handled by a financial adviser with his input. 

Oooops.

“[Bresnahan] admits he has had an active role in his stock portfolio while voting to unleash higher prices and devastating health care cuts on his own community. It’s truly sickening,” Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti said in a statement.

I’m sure we all know by now that Jeffrey Yass is Pennsylvania’s richest billionaire and one of the largest GOP megadonors thanks to his ballooning wealth, but the New York Times published a piece detailing how billionaires are influencing state and local politics in races across the country.  

Yass spent more than $100 million on federal races in 2024 and he has already spent close to $55 million in the upcoming 2026 cycle. On the local level, Yass, through his political action committees, spent close to 90% of the $14 million that supported incoming Attorney General Dave Sunday. 

With the attorney general’s office normally seen as a stepping stone for higher office, Yass is making the long-term investment in Sunday with the hopes of expanding school vouchers and charter schools, issues that Yass cares deeply about. 

“We’re playing the long game,” Matt Brouillette, Yass’ political advisor, told the Times.

Gov. Josh Shapiro promised last month that his administration was going to explore every legal avenue possible to prevent the Department of Homeland Security from converting two large warehouses into immigration detention centers in Berks and Schuylkill counties. 

On Friday, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection issued a series of orders to DHS and the municipalities where the facilities will be located to impede their construction.
