Garrity dines with Trump at lavish Mar-a-Lago fundraiser

Good afternoon everyone,

It’s Tuesday, March 31, and welcome back to another edition of the Keystone Labor Report.

Tens of thousands Pennsylvanians turned out for the third installment of the nationwide No Kings protests this past Saturday. Organizers estimated that 40,000 people attended the rally in Philadelphia, while Pittsburgh Mayor Corey O’Connor counted 15,000 to 20,000 in attendance at the rally in the Steel City.

Thousands more attended rallies in Harrisburg, Lancaster, the Lehigh Valley, and the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh suburbs.

Nationally, organizers estimated that more than 8 million people attended at over 3,000 locations.

Pennsylvania Treasurer and Republican-backed candidate for governor Stacy Garrity had other ideas for the nationwide No Kings demonstration.

Garrity hosted a lavish fundraiser that included miso crusted sea bass and wagyu strip steaks at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach on Friday. Trump posed for photos with Garrity and other attendees.

This may have been drowned out by all of the No Kings coverage, but Democrats used this as an opportunity to remind people that Garrity’s trip to Mar-a-Lago comes at a time when gas prices are surging thanks to Trump’s war with Iran.

“As Donald Trump’s failed agenda is spiking gas prices and forcing more Pennsylvanians to lose their health insurance, Garrity [spent] her weekend cozying up to Trump and wooing MAGA allies because she is a disastrous candidate running on Trump’s disastrous agenda,” Ava Pitruzzello, spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, said in a statement.

US House Rep. Scott Perry appeared on Newsmax to spread conspiracy theories about Democrats shutting down DHS in order to protect immigrants and commit voter fraud in the upcoming elections. Read more about that here.
