Bob Brooks, a retired 20-year firefighter with the City of Bethlehem and president of the Pennsylvania Professional Association of Fire Fighters, continues to rake in the labor endorsements for his congressional campaign against US Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (R-Pa.) this fall.
Local unions with the Lehigh Valley Labor Council and the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO recommended and unanimously approved Brooks’ latest endorsement.
He was also endorsed the North East Pennsylvania Building & Construction Trades Council, the Lehigh Valley Building & Construction Trades Council, and the Philadelphia Building & Construction Trades Council, representing over 60 local trade unions in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District.

Former Gov. Tom Corbett, Pennsylvania’s only Republican governor over the past 25 years, penned a column with former US Rep. Reid Ribble (R-Wis.) in opposition to the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE America) Act, per Pennlive. The legislation would disenfranchise tens of millions of Americans from voting, some estimates show.
- Pennsylvania Democrats have added 25,000 newly registered voters to the rolls since the start of 2026, bringing their advantage over the Republican Party to over 200,000 voters, per Fox 43.

On top of having a private helicopter, US Rep. Rob Bresnahan (R-Pa.) spent over $20,000 on a private charter flight to the Finger Lakes region, per The Daily Beast.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has officially withdrawn their plans to convert two rural Pennsylvania warehouses in Berks and Schuylkill counties into massive immigration detention centers.
According to Spotlight PA, ICE sent two letters informing Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro’s administration about their change of plans, but the letters do not detail what ICE plans to do with the buildings in the future.
“My Administration stood with local leaders and residents, enforced Pennsylvania law, and worked across agencies to protect people from being held in these warehouses and to protect the surrounding communities,” Shapiro said in a statement on July 22.
