Mark Ruffalo is reportedly set to star in “Task,” a follow-up to the Emmy-winning show that was shot in and around Philadelphia.

It’s been almost three years since Kate Winslet adopted a hoagie mouth accent to portray detective Marianne “Mare” Sheehan in the Emmy-winning HBO crime series “Mare of Easttown.”

And while another season of “Mare” doesn’t appear likely at this point, a follow-up to the suburban Philadelphia-set show is currently being shot in Delaware County.

According to Variety, Mark Ruffalo will play the lead in “Task,” a limited series for HBO. The showbiz publication reports the series follows “a task force of law enforcement officers and the criminals they are trying to apprehend.” Ruffalo recently told Deadline that his character is a good, but “complicated” guy.

“He’s badly damaged but fighting for good,” Ruffalo said.

“Mare” creator Brad Ingelsby, a Chester County native, is also behind “Task,” which is being directed by Philadelphia native Jeremiah Zagar.

Filming on “Task” is scheduled to run through August and the Philadelphia-based casting agency Heery Loftus is currently casting for both speaking and background roles.

According to recent Instagram posts from Heery Loftus, the agency is looking for members of the Dominican community, twins, and an actual courtroom sketch artist.

No word yet on when the series will air.
