Some of your favorite homegrown celebrities are backing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the general election.

You know them from movies, TV, and radio.

But you might not know that they once called Pennsylvania home (or even still do), or that they’re supporting former Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Here’s a quick round-up of some of the celebrities from PA who are backing Biden and running mate US Sen. Kamala Harris (D-California).

Kevin Bacon

Actor Kevin Bacon, who was born and raised in Philadelphia, will appear in a “Love Letter to Pennsylvania” virtual concert and voting rally for the campaign. The concert will air at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 on YouTube. You can get details and register here.

Mark Cuban

Dallas Mavericks owner, entrepreneur, and “Shark Tank” shark Mark Cuban, who grew up in Pittsburgh, told Fox News host Sean Hannity in June that he will vote for Biden.

“Donald Trump doesn’t want to run a country. He wants to run a campaign,” Cuban said. “Joe Biden actually wants to run a country.”

In an earlier interview with Hannity, Cuban told the Fox News host that he’s tired of Trump “playing the victim.”

“This is what really bothers me about the president: He’s the most powerful man in the world, and he always plays the victim card. ‘The Dems are out to get me. The media is out to get me.’ You’ve gotta be the leader. You’ve gotta be the strongest man in the game. And he just hasn’t showed that strength.”

Tina Fey

Actress and comedienne Tina Fey, who grew up just outside of Philadelphia in Upper Darby, where she was known as Elizabeth Stamatina Fey, appeared in a voting PSA for the Biden campaign.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson

Professional wrestler and actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who spent some of his teen years in Bethlehem and played football at Freedom High School, rarely endorses political candidates, but made an exception for Biden and Harris.

“As a registered Independent for years now with centrist ideologies, I do feel that Vice President Biden and Sen. Harris are the best choice to lead our country, and I am endorsing them to become president and vice president,” he said in a video he shared on his social media.

He talked with Biden and Harris about the importance of voting in this election in another video.

Michael Keaton

Actor Michael Keaton, who grew up just outside of Pittsburgh in Heritage Valley Kennedy, where he was known as Michael John Douglas, endorsed Biden in a recent video.

“You can act like you don’t want to listen to me, and I wouldn’t blame you, but let’s be honest, I’m friggin’ Batman,” he says, before explaining why he supports Biden.

When the coronavirus pandemic began, Trump had information that could have helped save lives, but didn’t share it, Keaton said.

“I couldn’t sleep at night if I walked into that booth and didn’t vote for Joe Biden from Scranton. Authentic Joe. Not branded Joe. One of us.”

Keaton is also expected to participate in the “Love Letter to Pennsylvania” virtual concert and voting rally.

Ed Kowalczyk

Singer/songwriter Ed Kowalczyk, who grew up in York, is expected to participate in the “Love Letter to Pennsylvania” virtual concert and voting rally.

Zachary Quinto

Actor Zachary Quinto, who was born in Pittsburgh and grew up in Green Tree, recorded a PSA for the Biden campaign that was posted today.

“I’m voting for Joe and Kamala because at the core of their platform is a sense of dignity and respect for all Americans,” he said. “They make decisions based on truth and science, and they will lead us through these unprecedented times with experience and true leadership.”

Adam Rippon

Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon, who grew up just outside of Scranton, has been very outspoken about his opposition to the Trump administration, and Vice President Mike Pence in particular.

“We must come together to build back better. Everything we care about—from our health to our economy, from climate change to racial justice,” he said in a video for Back to Blue PA earlier this month. “All of it is on the line.”

When he got his mail-in ballot in the mail earlier in the month, Rippon posted a selfie with it on Instagram.

Rippon has also done numerous PSAs about voting and the importance of voting for a variety of news outlets.

Ben Simmons

Sixers point guard Ben Simmons was born in Australia, but lives in the Philadelphia area now. He posted a video endorsing Biden on his Twitter account earlier this month.

“Joe Biden is the president we need to take on COVID-19, fight for equality, and build this country back better than ever before,” he says.

Simmons also plans to participate in the “Love Letter to Pennsylvania” virtual concert and rally.

Sister Sledge

Sharon Stone

Actress Sharon Stone, who grew up in Meadville, posted a video on her Instagram account in August, encouraging her followers to vote for Biden and Harris.

She talks about several family members who had contracted the novel coronavirus and their struggles to get good health care.

“With women in power, we will fight for our families, we will fight for people to live,” she says. “And we will fight for people to get tested. Because the only countries that are doing well with COVID are the ones that have women in leadership.”

Taylor Swift

Singer/songwriter Taylor Swift, who grew up in West Reading, has said many times this year that she plans to vote for Biden.

She told V Magazine earlier this month:

“The change we need most is to elect a president who recognizes that people of color deserve to feel safe and represented, that women deserve the right to choose what happens to their bodies, and that the LGBTQIA+ community deserves to be acknowledged and included. Everyone deserves a government that takes global health risks seriously and puts the lives of its people first. The only way we can begin to make things better is to choose leaders who are willing to face these issues and find ways to work through them.”

She went on to say, “I will proudly vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election. Under their leadership, I believe America has a chance to start the healing process it so desperately needs.”

She also made Biden-Harris cookies.

Jennifer Weiner

Best-selling author Jennifer Weiner, who lives in Philadelphia, has Tweeted her support for Joe Biden.

Chuck Wendig

Author and comic book writer Chuck Wendig, who lives in Bucks County, talked about why he’s backing Biden in a recent blog post:

“I like Biden. I liked him as Veep. He wasn’t my guy in the primary, wasn’t my second, maybe wasn’t even my third, but he’s who we have, and I’ll be honest, he’s done a helluva job so far. He’s kept it together. He speaks with compassion. He has plans and vision for the future. What, he’s not perfect? Whoa, no way. He’s not the shining emblem of the left? Listen, he can be moved. He already has moved left. Bernie’s moved him left. Warren’s moved him left. Harris has moved him left. We have moved him left. He’s progressive while at the same time still running to be president for ALL of America, and not just his supporters. That’s what a president does. He doesn’t single-out the blue states or the red states and deny them care and aid.

“Shit, he was in the White House. He actually knows the job. He’s a legislator. Not even a politician—an actual lawmaker, proven for decades.”
