State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta (D-Philadelphia) delivered an emotional speech after receiving the Pennsylvania Democratic State Committee’s endorsement for Pennsylvania Auditor General in Harrisburg on Saturday.

Kenyatta made history with the endorsement becoming the first black man and member from the LGBTQ community to receive a statewide endorsement from the Pennsylvania Democratic Party.

In his acceptance speech, Kenyatta called for reopening the Bureau of School Audits, which was shut down under Republican Auditor General Timothy DeFoor, and opening the first Bureau of Labor and Worker Protections. Kenyatta is running against Lehigh County Controller Mark Pinsley and former House Speaker Mark Rozzi (D-Berks) in the 2024 primary.
