The stars may have some insight into where you should live in Pennsylvania.
If you’ve ever opened the paper (or in this day and age, clicked onto a news site) to read your horoscope, you know that astrologers believe we can explain parts of our personalities and our futures based on the positions of celestial objects when we were born. But whether you agree with astrologers or not, learning about your zodiac sign is certainly fun! We’ve studied the stars and determined the best place to live in Pennsylvania for each sign, based on its traits.
You can flourish anywhere you choose to live—but here’s what the planets have to say.
Aries: March 21 – April 19
Chester County
Adventurous Aries craves the excitement of a city like Philadelphia, but the fiery sign also appreciates their independence. That’s why living in suburban Philadelphia is the best of both worlds for rams: They have access to the hustle and bustle of the city to keep them from boredom, but they can also retreat to their own space when they need to recharge. There are also ample outdoor opportunities in a place like Chester County, where Aries can challenge themselves while hiking or biking in the Brandywine Valley.
Taurus: April 20 – May 20
Laurel Highlands
Down-to-earth Taurus is constantly seeking beauty, and one of the most beautiful places in the commonwealth is the Laurel Highlands in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Taurus can live in a cozy home near the waterfalls and mountains of Ohiopyle State Park and revel in the forested view outside their window. And they still have access to engaging culture, like Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater, and charming restaurants like Out of the Fire Cafe. Plus, they’re never far from the urban center of Pittsburgh.
Gemini: May 21 – June 20
Downtown Pittsburgh
Gemini needs to be surrounded by diverse ideas and opportunities for new experiences. Downtown Pittsburgh is always holding exciting events that attract residents from all over the area, and living downtown means that Gemini would be in the middle of the action. They would also be close to Pittsburgh’s theaters for shows and concerts, as well as museums that would engage Gemini’s curiosity.

Cancer: June 21 – July 22
Erie
As a water sign, Cancer thrives near water, but that’s not the only reason Erie in Northwestern Pennsylvania would be a great place for the crab to set roots. The small city has a strong sense of community, and nurturing Cancer would certainly fit in. Plus, the relatively low cost of living would be a major bonus for a sign that prioritizes security and stability.
Leo: July 23 – Aug. 22
Hershey
Confident Leo loves to be the center of attention, as well as a hint of drama. You may think they’d be happy in a metropolitan center—and of course they would!—but we think they’d especially thrive in the small town of Hershey. The smaller population would let Leo shine! Plus, Hershey’s thriving cultural scene would allow Leo to express themselves through dancing, acting, or art. And because lions love to entertain, they can host friends and family visiting “The Sweetest Place on Earth” and its museums, theme park, and other chocolate-y attractions.
Virgo: Aug. 23 – Sept. 22
Greater Scranton and Wilkes-Barre
Practical Virgo appreciates a calm environment, and they could find the perfect home in scenic Northeastern Pennsylvania. The area’s gorgeous landscapes and well-maintained hiking trails allow Virgos to experience the serenity of nature, while the urban areas of Scranton and Wilkes-Barre have a blue-color sensibility that hard-working Virgos can appreciate. Plus, many of the communities in and around Scranton and Wilkes-Barre are still rebounding from the effects of deindustrialization, giving Virgo the opportunity to forge a sense of purpose by contributing to their community’s renewal.
Libra: Sept. 23 – Oct. 22
New Hope
Libra thrives in places that exude harmony and peace—and it helps if there’s a bit of luxury, as well. This sign likes to surround itself with art and beauty, so New Hope along the picturesque Delaware River is an ideal spot. The small, artistic community has recently attracted a swath of celebrities seeking to enjoy its gourmet food and artisan shops, but there are still plenty of longtime New Hope institutions like the Bucks County Playhouse, where Libra can socialize with locals.

Scorpio: Oct. 23 – Nov. 21
Philadelphia – Fishtown
The mysterious Scorpio would feel right at home in Pennsylvania’s largest city, Philadelphia. Scorpios would not merely connect with Philly’s big-city energy, but they would also value its rich history, grit, and bevy of hidden gems, especially from an eclectic home base like Fishtown. A Scorpio could spend the afternoon exploring centuries-old streets like Elfreth’s Alley in Old City and then stumble upon a secret speakeasy near their apartment later that night. This sign is focused on transformation, and Philly has been evolving since the founding of the country.
Sagittarius: Nov. 22 – Dec. 21
South Philly
Sagittarius isn’t as concerned with where they’re living as they are with where they’re going to go. That’s why they’d do well in South Philly, which is a short jaunt to Philadelphia International Airport and its more than 100 direct flights (including affordable flights overseas). And when archers are at home, being within Philly and having access to the city’s diverse neighborhoods can surely sate their wanderlust.

Capricorn: Dec. 22 – Jan. 19
Harrisburg
Capricorn has an unshakable drive to succeed, and what better place to climb the ladder than Pennsylvania’s capital? Ambitious goats would thrive in Harrisburg, either making strategic moves at the Capitol itself or with one of the many interest groups based in the city. Harrisburg’s relatively affordable housing and central location, convenient to major East Coast hubs, would also satisfy Capricorn’s practical side.

Aquarius: Jan. 20 – Feb. 18
Pittsburgh – Lawrenceville
Innovative Aquarius needs a space where they can express their creativity and build community with like-minded people. Enter Pittsburgh’s hip Lawrenceville neighborhood, which is filled with unique shops, restaurants, and galleries, as well as thousands of residents—it’s Pittsburgh’s largest neighborhood! The walkable community is a place where Aquarius can build their social circle and also channel their passion for giving back via causes like Lawrenceville United.
Pisces: Feb. 19 – March 20
Pocono Mountain river towns
Dreamy and creative Pisces are naturally drawn to beautiful places that move them, and Pocono Mountain river towns like Honesdale or Milford would be true havens for this sign. These walkable, tight-knit communities are home to charming downtowns with art galleries and cozy shops where the water sign can reflect and connect. Plus, the jaw-dropping scenery and cascading waterfalls surrounding these towns would serve as a constant source of inspiration.
