The 11 best places to zipline in Pennsylvania

Not just for tourists, ziplines in Pennsylvania offer an exhilarating adrenaline rush and views of incredible scenery.

Ziplining involves flying through the air on a cable pulley system, safely strapped into a harness so you can feel the rush with little risk. Zipline canopy tours—first popularized by wildlife biologists studying flora and fauna in the rainforest—allow you to enjoy spectacular scenery. Other ziplines may be part of adventure ropes courses where the main draw isn’t necessarily the view but rather the challenge of an aerial obstacle course.

Pennsylvania has both canopy tours and aerial adventure courses! And we’ve put together a list of some of our favorite places to travel by cable in Pa., whether you’re soaring against a stunning mountain backdrop, gliding through the state’s enchanted forests, or testing your agility on above-ground obstacle courses that include ziplines.

1. Camelback Mountain Adventures – Tannersville (Monroe County)

Camelback Resort might be best known for wintry fun, but Camelback Mountain Adventures—and especially its Poconos Zipline—keeps the resort lively during the summer. Camelback has two zipline experiences, one 1,000 feet long and the other 4,000 feet long. The 1,000-foot zipline is a dual zipline, meaning you can race a friend down the mountain. The 4,000-foot zipline is what Camelback says is the longest zipline in Pennsylvania! And when you’re 180 feet in the air, you’ll have outstanding views of Pocono Mountain. Be sure to note height and age requirements before you book your excursion. The 4,000-foot zipline is currently $39 per person, while the 1,000-foot zipline is currently $18.

2. Refreshing Mountain Retreat and Adventure Center – Stevens (Lancaster County)

Just north of Lancaster, Refreshing Mountain Retreat and Adventure Center is set on more than 80 acres of Pennsylvania woodlands. The year-round retreat center offers a number of activities from nature trails to axe throwing, but its zipline tours are a highlight. You can tackle as many as seven ziplines in a guided tour, which is suitable for anyone ages five and up. But you can only access the ziplines by purchasing a package, which includes your zipline tour through the forest as well as free time to explore some of the retreat center’s other activities, like the wildlife center and climbing tower. Zipline packages start at $67 per person; this price includes two ziplines along with eight other activities. Plus, you can book glow ziplining—a night adventure illuminated by glow sticks, glow necklaces, and fun lighting—over holiday weekends, starting at $59.

3. Treehouse World – West Chester (Chester County)

Treehouse World, not far from Philadelphia, is an adventure park known for its numerous treehouses among several other activities, including three zipline courses. The Buccaneer Zipline is perfect for smaller kids, as participants need to weigh just 20 pounds to glide 150 feet, 12 feet above the ground—the minimum age is 2 years old. The Canopy Zipline is a dual zipline adventure that offers a little more excitement than the Buccaneer. Finally, the Valley Creek Ziplines include a ropes course that ends with 420-foot dual ziplines. You can zipline by purchasing a package that gives access to multiple activities in addition to ziplining, like the treehouses and the bungee trampoline. Package prices start at $25 for guests under 50 pounds and $50 otherwise.

4. Whitewater Rafting Adventures’ Pocono Mountain Zipline – Nesquehoning (Carbon County)

Whitewater Rafting Adventures is more than a rafting company. WRA is also home to its Pocono Mountain Zipline, which allows guests to launch over a cliff and gaze at the southern Pocono Mountains near Jim Thorpe. You can reach a speed of more than 30 miles per hour while soaring for 900 feet. While you can purchase adventure packages that bundle ziplining and activities like rafting, you can also buy tickets just to zipline. One ride costs $20 while two costs $35.

5. Treetop Quest Philly – Philadelphia

Treetop Quest Philly, located within Philadelphia city limits, is an adventure park that combines ropes courses with ziplining. Three courses with more than 60 obstacles (like rope swings and rope bridges) will challenge your dexterity while you admire the wooded scenery of Fairmount Park. Or, you can skip the ropes course trial and just enjoy the ziplines! The price to access the courses and ziplines varies by age, with younger kids starting at $18.50 and anyone 12 and older paying $64.

6. TreeTrails Adventures – Trevose (Bucks County)

Just north of Philadelphia, within Phoenix Sport Club, TreeTrails Adventures is home to aerial adventure courses as well as ziplines. Guests seven and older can choose between the ZipTrails, which allow riders to fly from tree to tree on a tour of the forest, and the 1,000-foot ZipRacer, which is made up of two racing ziplines. The ZipTrails experience is $41, and the ZipRacer is $29. Access to the main park’s six treetop adventure courses is an additional expense.

7. Summit Adventure Park at Blue Mountain – Palmerton (Carbon County)

Summit Adventure Park at Blue Mountain Resort offers a variety of outdoor adventures, including ziplining, climbing, and ropes courses. The resort’s four ziplines allow riders to glide 500 feet down from a tall rock wall. You can participate in a number of activities or just choose to zipline—and the ropes course always includes a ride on the zipline at the end. A ticket just for the zipline includes three quick rides for $15.

8. Nemacolin – Farmington (Fayette County)

You can admire the rolling hills and fields of the Laurel Highlands when ziplining at Nemacolin in Western Pennsylvania. The resort’s dual ziplines span nearly 1,400 feet, with a second segment stretching 700 feet. You can reach speeds of 45 miles per hour! The zipline experience is $90 on weekdays and $100 on weekends.

9. Skytop Lodge – Skytop (Monroe County)

The Adventure Center at Skytop Lodge features a Treetop Adventure Course that includes at least seven ziplines, each allowing you to traverse through beautiful forest scenery. The full adventure course is a challenging high ropes obstacle course that features 17 ziplines. The half-course (with seven ziplines) costs $45 for Skytop Lodge guests and $55 for those not staying at the resort; the full course is $55 for resort guests and $65 otherwise. Just want to zipline, without the obstacles to get in your way? A ticket for just the seven ziplines costs $40. Note that riders must be at least 10 years old and meet other height and weight requirements.

10. Mingo Creek County Park – Finleyville (Washington County)

As part of recent updates to its children’s playground, Mingo Creek County Park added a small zipline. You can watch a video of the little zipline in action.

11. Urban Air Sky Rider – Multiple locations across Pennsylvania

Can’t travel to the mountains for ziplining anytime soon? The chain adventure park Urban Air has its own “zipline-like experience” by way of its Sky Rider indoor ride.
