Visitors to the Poconos spent almost $5 billion last year on lodging, food, more

According to the Pennsylvania Tourism Office, the region brought in $4.9 billion in visitor spending in 2024, with Monroe County bringing in the most among its neighbors.

From hotel stays and dining out to shopping and outdoor adventures, visitors kept their wallets busy in the Pocono Mountains last year. According to the Pennsylvania Tourism Office, the region brought in $4.9 billion in visitor spending in 2024, with Monroe County bringing in the most among its neighbors.

Statewide, tourism generated an economic impact of $83.9 billion, supported more than 514,000 jobs and contributed $5 billion in state and local taxes. The Keystone State welcomed 201.6 million visitors.

Here’s how the Poconos broke down by county.

Monroe County: $2.8 billion in visitor spending

  • Lodging: $484.1 million
  • Food & beverage: $604 million
  • Recreation: $555.3 million
  • Retail: $498.7 million
  • Transportation: $659 million
  • Jobs (direct impacts): 13,636

Pike County: $838.5 million in visitor spending

  • Lodging: $95.3 million
  • Food & beverage: $200.1 million
  • Recreation: $155.3 million
  • Retail: $127.4 million
  • Transportation: $260.4 million
  • Jobs (direct impacts): 5,775

Wayne County: $633.6 million in visitor spending

  • Lodging: $73.1 million
  • Food & beverage: $137.8 million
  • Recreation: $131.8 million
  • Retail: $90.7 million
  • Transportation: $200.2 million
  • Jobs (direct impacts): 3,569

 

Carbon County: $615.6 million in visitor spending

  • Lodging: $83.6 million
  • Food & beverage: $127.1 million
  • Recreation: $143.8 million
  • Retail: $89.1 million
  • Transportation: $172 million
  • Jobs (direct impacts): 3,232

Pocono Mountains

  • Visitor spending: $4.9 billion
