Pennsylvania Working Families Party takes its next step to oust US Sen. John Fetterman in the 2028 election

Do you want to help primary US Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) when he’s up for reelection in 2028?

Well, now’s your chance, because the Pennsylvania Working Families Party launched PrimaryFetterman.com looking for volunteers and potential candidates to help in the primary efforts.

“Fetterman was the deciding vote for a Republican budget bill that will increase healthcare costs for 500,000 Pennsylvanians,” the website says. “He has supported more of Trump’s nominees than any Democratic Senator. He consistently skips votes and Senate work. We deserve better.”

One of the website’s features includes a page encouraging former Fetterman supporters to ask his campaign for donation refunds. Last year, Fetterman’s campaign issued over $80,000 in refunds, according to data from the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

Following the 2024 election, Fetterman was the only Democrat to visit President Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort, and voted for the nominations of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and US Attorney General Pam Bondi

More recently, Fetterman has become a fixture on Fox News and other right-wing outlets, pushing Trump’s agenda and criticizing members of his own party, especially around the previous government shutdown.

The Working Families Party is a third-party organization that helps elect progressives in state and local races around Pennsylvania and have had success in Philadelphia in electing two members to city council.

In 2024, the Pennsylvania Working Families Party knocked on over 733,000 doors for the Kamala Harris-Tim Walz White House campaign,

“At a time when Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress are doing everything they can to make life harder for working people, we need real leaders in the Senate who are willing to fight for the working class,” Shoshanna Israel, Mid-Atlantic Political Director for the Working Families Party, said in a previous statement.

She added, “we deserve real working class leadership in the U.S. Senate. Senator Fetterman has sold us out, and that’s why the Pennsylvania Working Families Party is committed to recruiting and supporting a primary challenge to him in 2028.”
