Pennsylvania Democrats celebrated President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law on Wednesday. So far the commonwealth has received $13.8 billion from the landmark legislation to fund 331 projects throughout Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania Democrats celebrated the two-year anniversary of President Joe Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law by highlighting how the bill is benefitting Pennsylvania residents.
“The Biden Harris administration’s infrastructure bill has meant a lot to the people of Pennsylvania,” said State Senator Sharif Street (D-Philadelphia), and Chair of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party, at a press conference on Wednesday.
To date, the commonwealth has received $13.8 billion to fund 331 projects throughout Pennsylvania. This includes: $10 billion in funding for roads, bridges, public transportation, airports, and ports; $1.2 billion to connect Pennsylvanians to high-speed internet; and $657 million for clean water and water infrastructure.
Wednesday’s press conference highlighting the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s achievements was hosted by Street and close to a dozen lawmakers from around Pennsylvania.
“I come from Allegheny County, we have our share of bridges, we have our share of infrastructure needs,” said House Whip Dan Miller (D-Allegheny). “The reality of it is that Pennsylvania cannot lift it all by itself.”
“So whether we are talking bridges, dams, or whether we are talking roads or the internet or our support for the public transportation system, the Biden infrastructure bill has made a difference and will continue to make a difference for years here in Pennsylvania.”
US Sen. Bob Casey praised the Biden Administration for getting the infrastructure bill passed when politicians spent decades talking about upgrading the country’s infrastructure.
“For decades, politicians in Washington have talked about the desperate need for federal investment in our Nation’s infrastructure,” Casey said in a statement. “Two years ago, under the leadership of President Biden and Democrats in Congress, we finally got it done and passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.”
“Over those two years, billions of federal dollars have flowed into the infrastructure that sustains Pennsylvania, from our roads and bridges to our drinking water to our internet connections. Because of these generational investments, we are building a Commonwealth and a Nation that is stronger, healthier, and more resilient.”
