For over a year, Beaver County resident Jesse Wisinski has been serving up pizzas out of his home on Tuesday nights as a way to give back.
โI love making pizza and want to use it to bless people in our community,โ he explained in an Instagram post.
In the process, Wisinski has raised more than $2,000 for Pie it Forward, a national hunger-relief campaign by New York-based Slice Out Hunger that provides free pizzas for people experiencing food insecurity. Heโs provided meals for new moms, first responders, and families dealing with cancer. Heโs also forged connections with neighbors he didnโt really know previously.
โI had a dream and wondered why Iโd made pizza for every other neighbor except for this one,โ Wisinski said. โI ended up texting them. I said, โI do this thing where I make pizza, Iโd love to make your family pizza.โ The husband picked them up. His wife texted me and said, โThat was an answer to prayers you didnโt even know I had.โโ
Wisinski calls his philanthropic pizza operation The Best Pizza Shop. Through his website, people can nominate individuals in the community in need who could use a pizza. The pizzas are free and Wisinski doesnโt accept donations, though people requesting pies are encouraged to donate to Slice Out Hunger.
