The Altoona-based convenience store and gas station chain is providing relief for pain at the pump through Independence Day.

Sheetz is providing some temporary relief for pain at the pump in advance of the July 4th holiday.

Effective immediately, the Altoona-based convenience store and gas station chain is reducing the cost of fuel to $3.99 a gallon for Unleaded 88 and $3.49 a gallon for E85 through the July 4th holiday travel season.

Unleaded 88 is approved by the EPA for use in vehicles for model years 2001 or newer as well as light-duty trucks, SUVs, and Flex Fuel Vehicles.

E85 contains more ethanol (51%-83%) and is not compatible with all vehicles. It is designed specifically for flexible fuel vehicles, or FFVs.

One notable customer offered this regional flex on behalf of his beloved Sheetz:

While the Sheetz gas price reduction is only temporary, it is still a significant price cut. As of Tuesday, the average cost for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Pennsylvania was $4.95, according to AAA. The national average is $4.88 a gallon.
