A popular pizzeria is now serving the Newtown area with the opening of its second location.

On Saturday, April 25, Lucatelli’s welcomed customers to its new shop in the former Marco’s Pizzeria space in the Village of Newtown South off South Eagle Road.

The expansion comes just four years after Lucatelli’s opened its flagship location in 2022 at the Mercer Square shopping center in Doylestown, where it grew a devoted following within the first few months, as it built a reputation for serving up standout pizza, cheesesteaks and other Italian favorites created from family recipes.

In 2023, the small shop grabbed the attention of Barstool Sports and One Bite Pizza founder David Portnoy, which further added to Lucatelli’s momentum, cementing its success in the years that followed and allowing the business to expand.

“I thought I was going to have one store. I couldn’t even fathom I’d be doing what I’m doing right now,” said Lucatelli’s owner Dave Schiano, who is in the process of opening a third location in Ambler at Maple Glen Pizza.

“I owe it all to our Doylestown customers—they helped us get here. They’re the ones who have made this all possible.”

On Saturday, the Newtown shop had a strong start. With a line out the door all day, Schiano said they sold out by 5 p.m.

“I’m grateful to everyone for coming out. Never in my life have I had a business have a start like that, so I expect really good things here. Newtown is a great community and I love it,” he said.
